Catawba County and each municipality and each fire district impose an annual tax on real estate owned. Real property is revalued every 8 years to establish its “tax value.” The last revaluations were in the year 1999. Catawba County bills and collects all county, municipal, and fire district taxes.

The nineteen (19) rural areas in the Catawba County (i.e., areas outside of the above municipalities) impose a Fire District tax at various rates. The rates begin as low as 2¢ per $100 and are as high as 8¢ per $100.
